‘The Undervale’ Animated Series Set At Netflix From Creator Matt Roller & EP Dan Harmon

Netflix is checking into another animation series.

The streamer has ordered The Undervale, an adult animated comedy series from Matt Roller, who has worked on series such as Archer and Rick & Morty, which will be exec produced by a group including Rick & Morty co-creator Dan Harmon.

The series follows a single mother of two, who struggles to run a haunted hotel with the help of her estranged brother, who is now one of the ghosts and thinks the other ghosts have some pretty good ideas.

Roller, who created the series, recently served as co-exec producer on Harmon’s Fox series Krapopolis, and has also worked on series including Mr. Mayor and The Goldbergs. He will serve as showrunner.

He will also exec produce alongside Harmon, Chris McKenna (Spider-Man: No Way Home), and Steve Levy (Rick & Morty). Erica Hayes (Rick & Morty) will serve as supervising director.

The Undervale is the latest animation series set at the streamer. It comes as its long-running series Big Mouth was renewed for an eighth and final season, set to premiere in 2025. Spinoff Human Resources was also recently canceled. It also has Love, Death & Robots, which was renewed for a fourth season and Blue Eye Samurai, which was renewed for a second season.

The streamer also launched Good Times last month and the second half of Mulligan earlier this month.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Netflix and an amazingly talented cast and crew to bring to life the stories of the dead, the evil, and the struggling hospitality workers at the Undervale Hotel,” said Roller.

The Undervale is wildly inventive and I’m very grateful to Matt, Chris, Dan and their team for bringing their talents to Netflix,” said Billy Wee, Netflix Director of Adult Animation. “They are phenomenal collaborators and I can’t wait for fans all over the world to experience this hilarious show.”

Roller is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox.
