'Unforgettable' Storm Brings Flooding to Spain's Valencia Region

A severe thunderstorm packing large hail hit the province of Valencia on Sunday, September 17, causing flooding, power outages and ruining the harvest for some local winemakers, according to local news reports.

This footage, provided by user @vicentjacinto, shows flooding in the town of Lliria, northwest of Valencia city.

The source told Storyful “the storm left floods and severe damage across the town […] it was unforgettable as we had never seen such weather conditions in this area.”

Other areas in Valencia suffered in the deluge, particularly vineyards in the municipality of Requena, where, according to El Periodic, the hail, coming just ahead of harvest, proved disastrous. Credit: @vicentjacinto via Storyful
