A main road in Cornwall has been forced to shut this afternoon (Friday) due to an unsafe building.

Cornwall Council has issued the closure on Fore Street (A39) in Camelford after an assessment of the building revealed safety concerns. The exact nature of the hazard has not been disclosed, and it is not known if the emergency services are at the scene.

The entire A39 road is closed, with a suggested diversion route along the B3266.

In addition to the closure of Fore Street, there is also a Temporary Prohibition of Traffic order for the following roads in Camelford, which are expected to finish today (June 28).

The roads are:

The road from Rockhead Street to Hendra, Delabole.

The road from Junction West of Hendra to Hendra Road, Camelford.

Hendra Road, Camelford.

This closure is necessary for Wildanet to undertake ducting and gully-sucking works.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the affected areas and plan alternative routes.

From Tuesday (July 2) the B3266 between Valley Truckle and Beacon Lane, Helstone, Camleford will be closed between the hours of 8am and 6pm, weekends included. An alternative route will be signed on-site.
