Urgent police 'do not approach' 999 alert issued over wanted teen

Police have issued a 'do not approach' warning to the public over a teenager they say is wanted.

Anyone who sees Dylan Scanlan has been advised not to approach him under any circumstances. They should instead call 999 immediately, said a force spokesperson in an appeal today (May 4).

The 18-year-old, who has links to Preston, is wanted in connection with an investigation into an assault causing actual bodily harm. Lancashire Constabulary said he also uses the name, or a combination of the names, Dillon Scanlon.

Scanlan is described as 6ft tall with a slim build and short brown hair. Officers say he also has a scar on his left thumb.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts has been asked to get in touch with Lancashire Constabulary.

In a statement on social media this afternoon, a force spokesperson said: "Have you seen wanted Dylan Scanlan? Scanlan, 18, is wanted in connection with an investigation into an assault causing actual bodily harm.

"He also uses the name, or a combination of the names, Dillon Scanlon. Scanlan is 6ft, a slim build with short brown hair.

"He has a scar on his left thumb. He has links to Preston.

"If you see Scanlan, do not approach him, but call 999. Anyone with information can contact us on 101 quoting log 1589 of 22nd March."
