Urgent product warning over Next sleepsuits 'which could choke babies'

Next has issued an urgent recall for one of its products over fears it could poses a choking risk to babies. The retailer wants customers who have bought its three-pack of footless yellow, white and blue sleepsuits to return them to stores.

There is an issue with the zip construction, which could result in the slider becoming detached. There are concerns a baby could then place the small part in their mouth and choke.

Next and The Office for Product Safety and Standards - part of the Department for Business and Trade - have issued the urgent recall. It means the product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 and has had to be recalled.

If you cannot get to your nearest store, you can arrange a collection through your Next online account or call the retailer on 0333 777 8000. The sleepsuits were priced between £19 and £21, depending on the size.

In many cases, products are pulled because there is a safety risk to customers.
