UT Board of Regents names sole finalist for president of SFA State University

AUSTIN, Texas (KETK) – The University of Texas System Board of Regents has unanimously voted to name Dr. Neal Weaver as the finalist to become the president of Stephen F. Austin State University.

According to a release, on Thursday the board voted unanimously to name Weaver as the sole finalist. Now, the Regents have to wait 21 days before voting to officially name Weaver as the president of the UT System’s 14th institution.

According to the UT System, SFA became a member of the institution in September.

The Board of Regents said that Weaver has “an impressive 33-year career in higher education administration across four public university systems” and has recently been recognized as guiding Georgia Southwestern State University to an increase in enrollment and retention.

According to the release, Weaver was recommended to the board by a presidential search committee that was chaired by UT System Chancellor James Milliken, the committee comprised of SFA faculty, students, alumni, community leaders and UT regents and presidents.
