Van flips over on Lancashire road during heavy rain

An accident on a busy Lancashire road saw a van flip over and end up on the grass verge during heavy rain. A driver has suffered minor injuries in the single vehicle accident, Lancashire Police said.

The road was closed on the A675, near Belmont today (Wednesday, May 22) while emergency services attended. A picture captured of the scene shows the vehicle, which has left the road, turned upside down near a tree. The front part of the van is buried in part of the overgrowth.

Large parts of Lancashire have been battling another round of torrential rain and floods today, which will not have helped road conditions. Police, fire and ambulance are all said to have been in attendance.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "Call came at 5.46pm, only the van involved – tipped over. Driver suffered minor injuries. Happened on A675 Belmont Road."
