Vanessa Feltz and Ben Ofoedu: What went wrong?

Vanessa Feltz said she was living her “best life” as she enjoyed a string of dates following her split from Ben Ofoedu.

The TV star’s romance with Ofoedu came to an end earlier this year, with This Morning regular Feltz explaining "once the trust is gone you can’t really get that back".

However, Feltz, 61, is giving romance another chance with a turn on Celebs Go Dating.

And this week she told her fans on Instagram that she’d had three dates in one night for the show.

“'I am living my best life, I hope you are too!” she said.

So what happened with Feltz and Ofoedu?

Introduced by Keith Duffy in 2005

The pair apparently met at a Christmas party after mutual friend Duffy, of Boyzone fame, introduced them.

They hit it off and Ofoedu was later quoted by OK! as saying that his first impression of the TV star was that she was “very very cheeky”.

Romance blossomed and the pair went on to become an item.

Ofoedu popped the question in 2006

They visited Ireland in December 2006 and it was there that Phats & Small singer Ofoedu got down on one knee.

TV star Feltz later spilled that it was very romantic, with the Express quoting her as saying: “There were dark red roses strewn all over the white linen bed and when I turned around, he had dropped to one knee and was holding an engagement ring.”

Plans to marry and start a family

While Feltz and Ofoedu’s romance appeared to be going strong, their planned trip down the aisle didn’t materialise.

Over the years there were rumours of a ceremony being in the works, and there was even talk of the pair wanting to adopt a baby together.

But just last year Feltz told OK!: “We think it’s OK the way it is.

"I do think 'never say never', but I certainly haven’t made any plans for a wedding and I think we’re quite happy this way."

Couple separate in 2023

In February this year, Feltz confirmed that she and Ofoedu had called time on their relationship.

Explaining her absence from social media, she said in a video: “I honestly didn’t know what to say to you on Instagram.

“And so I just wanted to say obviously I feel incredibly sad and I’m pretty disappointed and shocked and all those horrible things, but also full of resolve.

“I am not going to let this defeat me.”

Ofoedu speaks out

Days later, Ofoedu admitted to the Mirror that he’d had an affair eight years earlier.

The 51-year-old told how he had cheated with a woman "the same age as Vanessa, possibly older" who he met in Ibiza while performing there in 2015.

He said he and the star had worked hard to rebuild trust in their relationship while keeping the affair to themselves.

Ofoedu also confessed to sexting with someone.

"I was wrong...I betrayed the love of my life,” he admitted.
