Vanessa Feltz’s ex Ben Ofoedu says he has maintained ‘dignified silence’ but ‘truth will come out’
Ben Ofoedu says he is sick of being painted as the bad guy as he vowed to share the “truth” behind why he and Vanessa Feltz really split up after 16 years together.
The broadcaster, 61, announced earlier this year that she and the Phats and Small singer, 50, had gone their separate ways and alleged that he had cheated on her with “multiple women”.
While the nation rallied behind Feltz, Ofoedu accused the media, “fake” celebrity friends and “cruel” online trolls of vilifying him “without knowing the facts and details”.
He also blasted Feltz, who is set to appear on Channel 4 dating show Celebs Go Dating, for “peddling” the narrative, insisting “she knows deep down inside what the real truth” is.
Speaking to the Standard backstage at KISSTORY on Blackheath in South East London, he admitted the beginning of the year was “really rough”.
”I think people are incredibly cruel without knowing the facts and details about so many different things. Anyone who really knows me and the media wrote whatever they wanted to write and even certain celebrities behaved in a very funny way towards me which is just so silly because they know me. But people go with the popular vote.
“I’m not going to say too much about what [Vanessa’s] doing because I think in the future a lot will come out, but I’m not sure if I would have done that [Celebs Go Dating].
“I will tell the story. I think that I’ve maintained a dignified silence and I think that Vanessa has peddled this and that’s the worst thing I’ve ever said about her, that she has peddled it a bit too much when she knows deep down inside what the real truth of everything else is.
“Look for the truth that will come out very, very soon in the next few months.”
The Standard has contacted a representative for Vanessa Feltz for comment.
Away from the dramas of his personal life, Ofoedu is excited about the future, especially career-wise.
He said: “I’ve got a few other projects that I really want to connect on. I’m doing a lot of shows, I want to get back to singing; I miss singing. So I’m doing more shows and I’m shooting a movie towards the end of the year.”
