Vanessa Hudgens has made her first public statement about the birth of her first child. Earlier this week, TMZ reported that the singer and actress had given birth alongside a paparazzi photo of Hudgens leaving the hospital. As it turns out, Hudgens wasn't too pleased with how the news came out.

"We're disappointed that our family's privacy was disrespected and exploited during this very special time due to the greed of a long lens camera feeding the media," wrote Hudgens in an Instagram story, adding, "Despite all of that, mom dad and baby are happy and healthy."

Hudgens had been photographed leaving a Santa Monica hospital with husband Cole Tucker and her newborn baby on Wednesday. It also just so happened to be Tucker's birthday. Hudgens posted a sweet carousel of images in honor of her husband that same day.

"Happy birthday to my slice of heaven @cotuck 🥳 you make the world a brighter place just by being you ♥️🤟🏽," she wrote.

Hudgens first revealed her pregnancy in March, when she wore a dramatic form-fitted black dress that showed off her baby bump during her appearance at the Oscars. As the actress later told Etalk while promoting her film French Girl, debuting her pregnancy at the glitzy awards show was "really special." She added, "It's a very exciting time in my life right now and I always love being able to show up at the Oscars and host the red carpet so it was just a little extra bonus for me."

Hudgens met Tucker back in 2020 during a virtual meditation session and the pair tied the knot back in December in Tulum.

"[My advice to others is] don’t do first looks, because seeing each other at the altar for the first time is the most emotional moment of my life,” she said to Vogue after the ceremony. “I literally keeled over when I saw Cole and had to take a big breath and had to force myself to keep walking, because I could have dropped to the floor."

The name and sex of Hudgens and Tucker's first child has not yet been announced.
