Vanessa Lachey Admits She and Husband Nick Debate Who Is 'Ready' for Marriage Before “Love Is Blind” Weddings (Exclusive)
"We talk about it, and sometimes he's been right, and other times we're like, 'What?'" Vanessa Lachey tells PEOPLE of making predictions with Nick Lachey after they help the 'Love Is Blind' cast go wedding dress and tuxedo shopping

Vanessa Lachey and Nick Lachey get really invested when it comes to the couples on Love Is Blind.
Speaking to PEOPLE about season 6 of the Netflix hit, Vanessa admits she and her husband often find themselves speculating about who they think is "ready" for marriage after helping the Love Is Blind participants go wedding dress and tuxedo shopping ahead of their big days.
"When we get to the wedding dress shop and the tux shop, I don't see the men and Nick doesn't see the women, but we do come back together and him and I talk," she says. "And he had his feelings about who he thought was ready and who he thought wasn't already, and I [have] mine."
Those predictions, however, are not always aligned, according to Vanessa.
"You know, I'm always the optimist," notes the NCIS: Hawai'i star, 43. "I'm like, 'Oh, I see that. I feel it.' I mean, you're at a wedding dress shop, you have beautiful gowns, there's charcuterie boards, and your family's there, and there's champagne. So I always feel all the love on that day, and of course, you're going to feel your most beautiful when you walk out in the dress."
"But I assume it's different for guys. And so Nick's felt that in each season, and we talk about it, and sometimes he's been right, and other times we're like, 'What?'" Vanessa shares. "But for the most part, I believe that a lot of them, it really played out the way it was supposed to."
Things have changed for the Lacheys, who were initially very involved with the process in season 1. Now, in their sixth season as co-hosts, Vanessa says they've become a bit more "removed from the process" but are always hoping the best for the couples.
"From season one to now, we are so far removed from the process, because ultimately, it's their journey," she explains. "Season one, we were there the entire process. We moved basically to Atlanta, and anyone from the season one cast will tell you, we talked to them at every turn, at every moment. When they went to the vacation or the romantic getaway, we were with them, we talked to them there. We came home with them. We went to their hometowns. We didn't go visit the families, but we went to their apartments, and we sat down with them in their apartments, and some of them made us dinner, and some of them just had some wine, and we went with them. We did a lot. And so we really felt the entire process through and through."
"How it's translated now, just being what it is and allowing those couples to have their own experience and their own journey, and also being realistic with how many successful seasons they've had," she continues. "Nick and I, we now live in Hawaii, and I'm actually shooting another show and he's shooting Perfect Match, and we both shoot The Ultimatum. It's not really possible."
"So this is actually just a better way to allow them to have their own experience," Vanessa adds.

Season 6 just wrapped up, with the reunion episode airing on Wednesday. Lots of bombshells were revealed during the special, including the fact that Jeramey Lutinski and Sarah Ann Bick started dating after Jeramey split from his fiancée Laura Dadisman, Amber Desiree “AD” Smith went on two dates with Matthew Duliba after Clay Gravesande dumped her at the altar, and Johnny McIntyre and Amy Cortés confirmed they're still happily married.
Trevor Sova also returned to the series to address the rumors he secretly had a girlfriend while filming the show. Speaking about that moment, Vanessa tells PEOPLE she's not entirely sure the 31-year-old understood the impact of his actions.
"I think Trevor is figuring himself out, and I think he didn't realize the scope of what this meant," she explained. "He does talk about that at the reunion ... I'm hoping that he does now, and sees that could be hurtful to both women."
"But yeah, he's going through a lot, and I'm proud of him for coming and saying his piece," she continues. "It's just not fair to everyone if you're holding back or lying to other people there... You'll have to watch his reaction at the reunion and deduce your own reasoning for his thought process."
In a series first, the reunion was filmed in front of a live audience and also featured the return of several Love Is Blind alums, including season 1's Giannina Gibelli, season 3's Alexa Alfia Lemieux and Brennon Lemieux as well as Colleen Reed and Matt Bolton; season 4's Kwame Appiah and Chelsea Griffin Appiah, Brett Brown and Tiffany Pennywell Brown, and Micah Lussier, and season 5's Izzy Zapata.
According to Vanessa, having those people in the room brought about a special kind of "energy" as they filmed the special.
"There's a lot of eyes on this one. And so it was really beautiful to bring the family back together," she says. "And they are so fun in the reunion because they add another layer that I don't think anyone will expect."
"They're already sitting out there, and they're in couches, and they're facing the stage, and there's also a live audience that we had, so you feel that energy," she adds. "But the great thing was we were able to film this over five hours and allow people to say their piece, say their story from beginning, middle to end, no rushing, no missing anyone. And then in the end, they put together a beautiful reunion that I think everyone's going to love."
