Vanity Fair's Barry Keoghan gimmick is so passé

Sex sells. We’re not sure Vanity Fair does at the moment. After Graydon Carter left as editor in 2017, the glossy has been sliding downhill. And never so obviously as in Academy Awards season. With Carter they had a perfect formula: a glamorous cover with the best A-listers, followed by the most exclusive party in town, the Oscars ceremony. In the latest cover, Vanity Fair plumped for a determinedly mixed bag of acting talent done up in suits and gowns (how radical!).

We could only agree with menswear influencer Derek Guy, who said: “These men are so elegant and Vanity Fair put them in such bad tailoring. Slim trousers that cling to the legs, short jackets that don’t look particularly elegant, low-rise trousers that show shirt fabric beneath the coat’s buttoning point, and lots of collar gaps.” The editors, perhaps subconsciously aware of how snore-inducing the cover is, decided to trot out a bare-bottomed Barry Keoghan for a social media promo vid in which he dances, Saltburn-style. We have, quite literally, seen it all before.

Stanley Tucci hosted an intimate dinner with fellow foodies and friends to celebrate the launch of his latest cookware range at Fortnum & Mason last night. The actor said a few words before the meal and revealed his travel essentials were a good pan and proper knives because villa cookware is never up to scratch. Remind us not to get stuck behind him at airport security. But buying into the Hollywood star’s cookware brand will cost a pretty penny. The six-litre Stanley Pan is retailing at a bold £199.95.
