Venezuelan Army Destroys Suspected Drug Plane From Mexico

The Venezuelan military announced on Thursday, January 25, that it had immobilized and destroyed an aircraft that entered the country illegally from Mexico and was believed to be trafficking drugs.

Domingo Hernandez Larez, head of the Strategic Operational Command (Ceofanb) of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces, said the aircraft departed from Cozumel on Mexico’s east coast and was detected entering airspace over the Venezuelan state of Zulia with its transponder off and without authorization.

Officials did not detail how the plane was immobilized and destroyed.

The aircraft was a white twin-engine Gulfstream, according to Mexican reports. Credit: Ceofanb via Storyful
