Vera ITV filming 'mystery' as Brenda Blethyn spotted on set in unconfirmed location

While we know where she'll be later this week, after filming was moved due to Thursday's General Election, Brenda Blethyn has been snapped in a 'mystery' location as filming begins to wind down on the last ever series of Vera. And the scene was taking a break from look rather sinister, with police tape seen in front of her.

Some 13 years on from the first time she pulled on her character's now world famous trench coat and fishing hat regalia, BAFTA winner Brenda is gearing up to her final scenes as DCI Vera Stanhope, following the news in April that the much loved drama will be coming to an end in 2025 after 14 series.

Brenda had admitted she will be sad to say 'cheerio' to the straight talking sleuth who has been a hit with viewers across the globed and, since camera started rolling on the last two episodes of Vera at the end of May, she has been drawing crowds wherever she's gone; attracting attention in the likes of Blyth, Gateshead, Hartlepool and South Shields, as well as in Corbridge, where she met viewers, including Vera super fan Christine Bennett, who travelled all the way from Australia to be in with a chance of meeting her favourite TV detective.

A few weeks ago, it was revealed to residents in the Northumberland village of Glanton that they'd be getting a visit from the Vera crew and, as set down in letters posted through locals' doors, Brenda and TV sidekick David Leon filmed scenes there last week, as the village was renamed to Ghyllstead and the local pub having a rebrand to become The Stanhope Arms.

Filming was due to take place once again in Glanton on July 4, but that has now been pushed back 24 hours to prevent road closures from stopping people going to vote in the election, as the country goes to the polls.

Last week, Brenda was seen in the unexpected location of a school in Barnard Castle and she's sparked some more speculation now that she was seen taking a break from filming in an undisclosed location. In the snap shared in a Vera fan group, Brenda is seen sitting in a director's style chair, with her instantly recognisable from behind, due to the trademark outfit she is wearing.

The photo was captioned: "Brenda taking a break today 02/07/24" but there was no word on where the picture was taken. In the shot, Brenda is seen looking down a bank, with police tape clearly visible as the Vera crew gather beneath her.
