Vera ITV police officer roles up for grabs as drama hunts for new series stars

You could soon be on the beat with Vera, as police officer roles are up for grabs in the new series of the hit drama, with just a week to go until filming commences.

Since Vera launched back in 2011, there have been plenty of opportunities for locals to get in on the action alongside Brenda Blethyn and co, just as a then young Sam Fender, who has the claim to fame of being the first murder victim in Vera, as his character made a grisly end in the pilot episode back in 2011.

Over the years, many North East actors have appeared in the much loved show, both in main roles, guest cameos and as supporting actors, with many involved in front of camera last year, when series 13 was filmed in locations such as Hexham, North Shields, Newcastle and Gateshead, where the cast and crew took over the well known Central pub.

And now, as production draws nearer for Vera series 14, the hunt is on for actors to take on the roles of police officers as new recruits are wanted to join the ranks of Northumbria & City Police. After casting calls for someone to play an 'intimidating builder' and child extras being sought, another advert has appeared on the Facebook page of talent agency

It read: 'Casting Opportunity - North East. Experienced Black and Asian Supporting Artists. Prior experience playing Police Constables or similar roles preferred but we are also open to SAs with solid general experience. You will be joining our pool of existing PCs for Vera. '
