Vera's Brenda Blethyn spotted on Blyth beach as fans on 'lookout' for ITV stars
Vera fans were put on high alert on Monday, as Brenda Blethyn and other cast members from the hit show were spotted at two different locations, the second of which was Blyth beach.
Having played no nonsense sleuth DCI Vera Stanhope for 13 years, Brenda is now stepping back in front of the camera for a final time as her legendary alter ego, with it being confirmed last week that the two new feature length episodes will be the show's last. In 2025, 14 years after it made its debut on ITV, with a pilot that starred a young Sam Fender, Vera will come to an end, with lead star Brenda admitted she was 'sad' at saying farewell to a character who has become adored by people across the world.
Having reunited for a script read through seven days earlier, the Vera cast were on set to shoot scenes for series 14 on Monday, with Brenda and returning sidekick David Leon, who made a shock return to the Northumberland & City Police fold in series 13, seen along with crew at Cambois. Having been clocked by a local resident, photos of the pair were quickly shared on Facebook and it was on the social media platform that there whereabout of Brenda and co was made public a few hours later.

Whenever the Vera cast are in town, a crowd quickly gathers and, while producers have been tight lipped about where exactly they'll be filming this time round, you can guarantee that word will soon gather round once they've been spotted. Last summer the cast and crew headed as far south as North Yorkshire, while, during a red hot day filming in Redcar, Brenda rushed to check on an elderly fan who had collapsed due to the sweltering conditions.
