Victoria Beckham: 'I was never the best Spice Girl'

Victoria Beckham is looking back on her Spice Girls years with humility 20 years after she became an international pop superstar.

The former Posh Spice reflected on her faults as a musisician as well as the life lessons that being a Spice Girl taught her in the latest issue of ELLE UK.

"Being in the Spice Girls was so much fun, but I was never the best singer or dancer," she admits. "I learned an enormous amount during that time, though: the staging, the lighting, the costumes – the package excited me."

It was the presentation aspect of the Spice Girls that would ultimately inspire Victoria Beckham to pursue her own fashion range, which she describes as her truest form of creative experience.

"I love fashion – this is what I'm genuinely interested in," she explained. "When I look back at my past self, [the way I dressed and behaved] was probably a sign of my insecurities.

"I feel quite confident in myself now – getting older doesn't bother me."

These days, Victoria is able to juggle the responsibilities of being a mum, a fashion icon and a businesswoman with support from her husband David Beckham.

"He's great," Victoria beamed. "During fashion week, when I'm working, the children will be in New York and he's already planned to take them to museums then out for dinner on Saturday night, so he is very good at that sort of thing – as am I.

"That's how you can show your support in a marriage, by saying, 'You know what, I've got this.' That's what makes a good partnership."

But what about the future of the Spice Girls? Although Victoria previously ruled herself out of any plans for a reunion, she clearly loved singing the group's hits with James Corden on Carpool Karaoke.

Days later, her bandmate Mel C admitted she had a "sneaky suspicion" that we would eventually get all five Spice Girls back on stage together. We're waiting…
