There's some big changes coming at Metrocentre.

A new retailer is set to stir excitement among bakery enthusiasts with its upcoming opening. The centre's management team has announced that ProCook, a specialist kitchenware brand, will be launching a store in the green mall.

The new ProCook store, which is poised to occupy a 3,326 sq ft space in the Lower Green Mall later this year, will offer shoppers a wide selection of high-quality cookware, knives, tableware, and smaller kitchen appliances. Customers can expect to find over 1,400 products to choose from. ProCook also has a store at Teesside Park which opened in 2021.

Andy Kerr, retail director at ProCook, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion: "We are excited to bring ProCook to the area for the first time, attracting a brand-new audience. We look forward to bringing our incredible range of high quality, great value kitchenware to a destination where not only is there a demand, but a space for us to flourish within this iconic centre."

In addition to ProCook's arrival, two other retailers are making moves within the shopping and leisure complex. Victoria's Secret, the well-known lingerie brand, is planning to move from the red mall into the green mall, significantly reducing the size of its original store, reports Chronicle Live.

Having opened its first North East store in 2018 in a substantial 10,000 sq ft unit, the brand is now preparing to settle into a more modest 5,411 sq ft space adjacent to Next later this summer. The sleepwear, lingerie and loungewear retailer is the latest addition to the Metrocentre's retail lineup, joining the recently revamped Goldsmiths and Ann Summers.

Sovereign Centros from CBRE has expressed that this move by the international brand signifies continued investment and confidence in the shopping centre. In a related development, Clarks is set to move from the Lower Red Mall to the Green Mall, which has been the focus of substantial investment from both the landlord and its retailers.

Next month will see the UK's largest shoe retailer opening a new 3,619 sq ft store opposite Boots, nestled among other high street favourites such as Flying Tiger Copenhagen and Next. This new Clarks store will feature the 'modern workshop' design, mirroring the recent revamp seen at their Newcastle Eldon Square location, aiming to present a fresh, contemporary image.

Ben Cox, director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, commented on the developments: "The investment in Green Mall, by new and established tenants, highlights its growing appeal among some of the most popular retailers in the UK. The creation of these new stores also reinforces our position as the leading destination in the North East, adding more diversity to what is already a best-in-class offer regionally. There's so much happening at Metrocentre, and it has been fantastic to work with retailers that really believe in the destination, Green Mall, our visitor catchment, and the potential for success here."

Daniel Cook, Victoria's Secret head of retail, has announced the brand's continued commitment to Metrocentre, stating: "Metrocentre has always been an important destination within our portfolio, and we are excited to trade in a new space and continue to fulfil our goal of uplifting and empowering women around the world. We love bringing our signature collections and award-winning products to such a renowned retail destination and look forward to our future within Metrocentre's flourishing Green Mall."

In other retail news, Metro Retail Park recently celebrated reaching full occupancy. After creating three new units and welcoming NCF Living, a retailer specialising in sofas, dining, and beds, the park announced it is now fully let.
