Victoria's Secret unveils 'reimagined' runway show with Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campbell and other VS icons
Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campbell and Hailey Bieber led the models strutting their stuff for the "reimagined" Victoria's Secret runway show.
Once a staple of the fashion calendar, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was scrapped following the 2018 runway extravaganza, after receiving backlash for its lack of diversity - specifically the lack of size exclusivity.
However, after a four-year hiatus, the show, Tour 23, dropped on Amazon Prime Video on Monday.
Gigi was joined by style icons including Emily Ratajkowski, Julia Fox and Winnie Harlow.
Former Victoria's Secret Angels Adriana Lima, Lily Aldridge and Candice Swanepoel also made an appearance, and in keeping with the old shows, Doja Cat provided the musical element.
However, the new look VS runway had little in common with its predecessor; many of the models were not dressed in lingerie but instead new clothing collections designed by 20 global creatives, there were no angel wings in sight and the finished film was staged on locations around the world instead of one big runway show.
Combining fashion, art and film, the brand's head creative director Raúl Martinez said in a statement: "This film is the ultimate expression of the Victoria's Secret brand transformation. It will be driven by fashion, glamour and entertainment with a nod to beloved iconography from the past but in a bold, redefined way. We are so honored to offer our platform and have it explored through the lens and artistry of global creatives who celebrate the individuality of women's stories and perspectives."
