Airbus Workers Stand Trial on Strike Charges in Madrid

The trial of eight Airbus employees accused of serious disorder began on Tuesday, February 9, in Madrid. They are charged in relation to a strike at their factory in Getafe. Protesters marched through the streets of Getafe on Tuesday in solidarity with the eight employees, who each face a sentence of eight years and two months in prison and a €35,000 fine.

The Airbus strike, which took place on September 29, involved heavy fighting between riot police and workers, with people trapped inside the building.
