Andy Burnham Announced Bid for Labour Leadership

Andy Burnham, Labour’s shadow secretary of state for health, declared his bid for the party leadership on Wednesday, May 13, with the contest expected to take place in September. Burnham follows Chuka Umunna, Liz Kendall, and Yvette Cooper, who announced she would run the same day. Burnham said Labour’s challenge was not “to go left or right,” but to speak to the “aspirations of everyone,” like the party did in 1997. Credit: YouTube/Andy 4 Leader
