New banknotes unveiled show Britain's King Charles

STORY: Photographs of the new specimen notes were released showing the monarch on all four of the country’s banknotes (£5, £10, £20 and £50).

The Bank of England said that the new notes are expected to enter circulation by mid-2024. Current banknotes featuring Queen Elizabeth would remain legal tender and would only be removed from circulation if worn or damaged, the bank said.

Charles became King in September following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth, who died after 70 years on the throne.
