Dozens Suffocate on Migrant Ship in Mediterranean

The Italian navy were working to rescue migrants from a boat in the southern Mediterranean on Saturday, August 15. At least 40 migrants died when they suffocated while trapped in the hold of the boat, Italian media reported. Reports initially suggested that the boat, believed to be carrying more than 300 people, had capsized, however, the Italian navy told Reuters that this was not the case.
