Heavy Winds and Rain From Typhoon Chan-Hom Lashes Taiwan

Typhoon Chan-Hom edged towards Japan on Friday, July 10, as maximum winds reached 216km/h (about 135mph), with speeds of 162km/h near the storm’s center, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Extremely heavy rainfall was forecast for the northeastern region and mountainous areas in central and northern Taiwan, according to local reports.
