Huckabee Announces Presidential Candidacy With 'Nailed Shut' Campaign Video

Former Arkansas Republican Governor Mike Huckabee said he would “lead with a moral clarity” if elected president in 2016. Starting his campaign in Hope, Arkansas, on Tuesday, May 5, Huckabee’s first video message made pointed reference to the state’s Clinton legacy. Titled “Nailed Shut,” the video starts with exactly that, an image of a door being hammered closed, symbolic of what he says a Democratic majority did to him when he was governor.

It’s the ordained Baptist minister’s second try at a presidential run. He won the Iowa Republican caucuses in 2008 and finished third overall. He withdrew March 4 after concluding he would not be able to beat Arizona Senator John McCain in the Texas primary.

The “Nailed Shut” video talks about his likely campaign platforms: trying to create an environment where people can earn a “maximum wage,” rather than raising the minimum wage; protecting the assets of Social Security; leading with “moral clarity in a dangerous world,” and defeating “the forces of radical Islam.” Credit: YouTube/Prosperity For All Fund
