Osborne Tells Government Depts To Prepare For Cuts Of Up To 40%

The Chancellor has set out how he would try and save 20 billion pounds in his bid to get government finances back in the black. Launching his spending review, George Osborne told government departments to prepare for cuts of up to 40 percent, saying they must do more for less. But with spending on NHS, defence, schools and foreign aid all ring fenced, some departments will be asked to sell land, and other public sector assets in order to slash billions of pounds from their budgets.
