Several Reported Killed in Accidental Airstrike on New Baghdad

At least 12 people were killed and several more injured when a reported “technical fault” aboard an Iraqi Sukhoi warplane led to the accidental bombing of a neighborhood in New Baghdad on July 6. According to reports quoting a statement by an Iraqi security spokesman, the Sukhoi was returning to Rasheed airbase when one of its payloads became stuck and accidentally released, landing on three houses in New Baghdad.
