Sydney Storm Whips Up Foam on Avoca Beach

Clean up efforts began on Wednesday, April 22, after Sydney and the New South Wales Hunter, Central Coast and Illawarra regions were hit with the worst storm weather in a decade, according to the NSW Premier.

Sydney’s northern beaches recorded winds up to 135km/h, equivalent to a Cyclone Category 2. The winds tore the roofs from homes in the Sydney suburbs of Avoca and nearby Saratoga. This video is described as showing large amounts of sea foam on North Avoca beach, whipped up by the wild winds.

Another belt of storms was expected to hit Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Wednesday afternoon with predictions of up to 50mm of rain, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. Credit: Syl Freedman, EndoActive
