Two Students Killed in Houston Bus Crash

Two Houston students were killed in a school bus crash on September 15 as they were traveling to Furr High School. Ken Huewitt, deputy schools superintendent, said two other students and the bus driver suffered serious injuries in the crash.

One student — a 17-year-old girl — was pronounced dead at the scene. The second student — a 14-year-old girl — was pronounced dead at the hospital. The names of the two students were not released because their families had yet to be contacted. Grief counselors were dispatched to the high school.

The driver of the vehicle that crashed into the bus was identified as a teacher, according to the Houston Chronicle. She was detained but not charged.

School district officials identified the driver as Louisa Pacheco. Nathan Graff, district transportation general manager, said she has worked with the district for three years and has a clean driving record. Credit: YouTube/Houston Independent School District
