Water Flows Over Uluru After Rare Rain Shower

Uluru, in Australia’s Northern Territory, experienced rare and unseasonable rain over the weekend, beginning around 5am on Saturday, May 30. The Bureau of Meteorology recorded more than 10 millimeters of rain in the town of Yulara, around 18 kilometers from Uluru, by Saturday night.

Only about one percent of tourists to Uluru see rain on the large desert rock, according to the ABC, and sustained rain as seen on the weekend is even more rare. These videos show the rain on Saturday. Credit: Monica Foster
