Kia is bringing a compact hatchback back to its lineup. While the previous-generation Kia Forte didn't offer a hatch variant, the new 2025 K4 compact car will, and the new model was revealed at the New York auto show alongside the redesigned sedan.

The K4 hatchback shares its front end with the sedan but features a completely different shape aft of the B-pillar.

The new look represents Kia's "Opposites United" design language, which is found on other models in the lineup.

We like the chunky look of the K4 hatch, and the relatively upright rear end should be good for cargo space.

The pictured model is in GT-Line trim, which includes sporty-looking touches.

We expect the hatchback to share its powertrains with the sedan, meaning a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four base engine and a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four upgrade engine.
