The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G550 trades its 416-hp V-8 for a 443-hp six, and the AMG G63's suspension gets a trick new hydraulic anti-roll system.

Don't be fooled: The new standard gas-burning G-wagen may be called G500 in other markets on account of its new 3.0-liter inline-six, but it will still be known as the G550 in the U.S.

That inline-six actually makes more horsepower than the outgoing G550's twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, but torque is down, from 450 lb-ft to 413.

Aided by a 48-volt hybrid system that employs a 20-hp motor-generator, the 2025 G550 should slightly improve on the dismal 14-mpg EPA combined rating of the outgoing version.

The Mercedes-AMG G63 also gets the 48-volt motor-generator, but the vehicle's peak output remains unchanged: 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque.

The G63's standard cross-linked hydraulic anti-roll system quells head snap and delivers a smooth ride even when all four tires leave the ground.

The G63's off-road roll stiffness offers three settings: Rock, Sand, and Trail.

A new off-road cockpit display serves up off-roady information like altitude and diff-lock status.

The 2025 G-wagens now get active safety features such as lane-keeping assist and automated emergency braking.

Your neighbors in Coral Gables will know that your G550 is a 2025, because the grille now has four horizontal bars instead of three.
