A village pub which has been closed for eight months is set to reopen this week.

The White Hart Inn in Boxford, near Sudbury, announced a sudden closure "for the foreseeable future" in November of last year less than a year after then tenants took over.

In a statement to customers on social media, the previous owners said: "We have worked tirelessly to avoid the closure of The White Hart, however the circumstances that have caused this are out of our control."

In March the pub appeared on the market for £485,000 and was bought by Howard Watts - who also owns Riddesdells Garage in the village.

The White Hart Inn will be reopening at 8am on Tuesday with hot drinks and cake available from the coffee shop.

It was originally due to open a day earlier on Monday, but had to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances and a "coffee machine lost in transit".

The bar area will be open from 12pm until 10.30pm.
