Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany is reportedly keen on bringing Liverpool's Joe Gomez to the Bundesliga in the summer transfer window.

The versatile 27 year old defender, who can play in multiple positions, had a standout season with Liverpool, making 51 appearances and earning his place back in the England squad under Gareth Southgate.

However, Liverpool are expected to resist any approach for Gomez, who they view as a key player under their new manager, Arne Slot. Gomez signed a five-year contract extension with Liverpool in 2022, keeping him at Anfield until 2027.

According to The Mirror, Kompany is eyeing defensive reinforcements in Munich and Gomez's versatility has made him a favourable option.

Bayern are also said to be interested in Chelsea's Levi Colwill, but the Blues are equally unwilling to part with their young defender. The German giants will look to win back the Bundesliga title next season after a disappointing campaign under Thomas Tuchel.

For the first time since 2012, Bayern were not crowned champions of Germany with Bayer Leverkusen's unbeaten campaign knocking them off their perch. Under Kompany, the Bavarians are looking to respond.

Harry Kane is expected to lead the line but the defence continues to be an issue. Gomez and Colwill have both been linked with potential moves but reports in Germany have claimed Bayer's Jonathan Tah is closer to agreeing terms.

Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko is also being linked with a move to Bayern with Kompany familiar with the defender from their time at City together, while Theo Hernandez is also said to be on his radar this summer.
