A new vintage shop selling cool sportswear from brands like Nike and Adidas as well as retro T-shirts, toys and collectables has opened in Birmingham's Great Western Arcade. The St Basil's store has been created to support young people aged 16-25 who are experiencing homelessness, with half of the cash raised by sales going straight to the charity.

Vintage clothes, sports memorabilia and accessories were left behind in Great Western Arcade by a store that has since vacated the shopping centre. Ashtrom Properties, which owns the shopping centre, has donated the items to St Basil's, giving them the space to sell the goodies.

Half of the profits raised by the shop will be kept by the charity and St Basil's are not being charged rent to occupy the space. It'll be open from today, Monday April 22 from 11am until 5pm. Special events and weekends have been planned but are yet to be announced.

Barrie Hodge, head of fundraising and communications for St Basils said: "We are delighted that Great Western Arcade has allowed St Basils to open a pop-up vintage shop there.

"As a charity we don’t have any charity shops, which is a bit unusual, so this is a new experience for us all. But being right in the heart of the business and shopping areas of the city means we can let more people know about the great work we do."

Yvonne Moulton, general manager at the Great Western Arcade, added: "We couldn't be happier to host St Basils' vintage pop-up shop here in the Great Western Arcade. It's fantastic to see unused space transformed into something vibrant and meaningful, especially when it supports such a worthy cause.

"By providing St Basils with a platform to showcase their work, we hope to raise awareness about youth homelessness and encourage more people to get involved in tackling this issue."
