Virgil van Dijk fires Arsenal and Man City warning as Premier League title race resumes

Virgil van Dijk has called on Liverpool to "stick together" and produce "one last push" after they were knocked out of the Europa League at the quarter-final stage.

The Reds travelled to Bergamo on Thursday, trying to avenge a 3-0 first-leg defeat to Atalanta at Anfield seven days earlier, but could only manage a 1-0 victory over the Serie A outfit at the Gewiss Stadium. The 3-1 aggregate drubbing ensured there would be no dream send-off for Jurgen Klopp at next month's Europa League final in Dublin.

For Liverpool, who won the League Cup in February, it means their only hope of further silverware will be in the Premier League as they tussle alongside Manchester City and Arsenal in an unprecedented three-way title race. Klopp's men are currently in third place and travel to Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

Now, Van Dijk has called on his team-mates to dust themselves down and prepare for a sprint finish in the Premier League.

"One last push," wrote Reds captain Van Dijk on Instagram. "We are in this together, we stick together. We are Liverpool!"

After a third defeat of the Premier League season at the hands of Crystal Palace last time out, Liverpool know there is little margin for error as they prepare for games against Everton and West Ham United after Sunday's trip to Craven Cottage.

Should they defeat Marco Silva's side on Sunday afternoon, they will move above Manchester City, who are in FA Cup action against Chelsea this weekend.
