Virgin Media reveals simple trick to boost broadband speed

Virgin Media has revealed some tricks to help boost broadband speed. Simple household items could cause Wi-Fi troubles, including electronics.

Microwaves, cordless phones and baby monitors can all obstruct signal. Mirrors can also lead to issues, The Sun reports.

Router placement was also important, with those located in basements or garages prone to potential problems. However if there is still little or no signal, there could be another simple solution.

The broadband provider said rebooting the router could be useful, especially if it hasn't been done for a while. The old 'turn it off and on again' clears older, unnecessary data and processing, which may have got clogged.

Virgin Media warned it could take between five and 10 minutes to reboot, but customers would know the connection was back up and running when the white light at the front of the hub was on.
