Virgin River's Martin Henderson has revealed to have had a recent health scare that forced him to postpone some work engagements.

The actor, also known for Grey's Anatomy and Ti West's slasher movie X, discussed his "serious" health issue during an Instagram Q&A with his Virgin River co-star Alexandra Breckenridge.

The actor apologised for cancelling a live autograph signing event earlier this year. Set to be hosted on Streamily in October, the live event was postponed due to Henderson's health problem.

"Around the time that we start the show we'll do the Streamily," he said. "I apologise, people, it was my fault we couldn't do it back in October, I had a little health issue."

"It was not your fault," Breckenridge chimed in, adding: "I'm so happy that everything is [holds thumbs up]."

Henderson replied: "Me too! Oh man, what a couple of months. Yeah, scary and I'm just so relieved that I have really, really good doctors and surgeons and everything went well for now. It's good to still be here."

Breckenridge then said: "I'll ask you more about that at another time," to which Henderson responded: "I'll probably talk about it more at some point, I'm sort of processing the whole thing myself."

The duo have recently appeared as Jack and Mel in Virgin River's two-part Christmas special, formally concluding season 5. They will return for an already confirmed season six, which is due to start filming in the first half of 2024, as showrunner Patrick Sean Smith announced.

"We're going to start as soon as the Vancouver weather allows. So hopefully in the spring is what I've been hearing," he told Deadline.

Smith, who joined the show for season 5, revealed the show will have "another time jump from the holidays to when season 6 starts".

Virgin River seasons 1-5 are streaming now on Netflix.
