I visited a relaxing Surrey spa with outdoor hot tub - but the Sunday Roast stole the show

When I heard about the newly refurbished BSpa at Brooklands Hotel in Weybridge, I thought, "Great, another chance to parade around in a fluffy robe pretending I'm a Roman emperor." Little did I know I'd leave feeling like one – with a belly full of Yorkshire puddings to boot.

The spa in the four star hotel reopened on May 1st after extensive renovations, boasts an impressive array of new facilities that cater to every aspect of wellness.

The crown jewel of BSpa is undoubtedly the sprawling hydrotherapy hot tub on the balcony. As I soaked in the warm water, I was treated to a unique view of the Mercedes-Benz World racetrack below. The juxtaposition of high-octane racing and serene relaxation was oddly satisfying.

I did miss the addition of a full swimming pool. but I put away the small violin when it was time for my massage. I opted for a back, neck and shoulder massage. The neck and shoulder treatment is like being lovingly folded and pressed, each movement smoothing out the lumps of stress until you're as flat and relaxed as a tortilla on a hot griddle.

Elsewhere, among the new additions was The Tranquillity Meditation Room. The room features gently warming waterbeds. It's like being back in the womb, if the womb smelled of sweet orange and cedarwood and played pan flute music.

The spa now offers both an infrared and a traditional Finnish sauna, along with a steam room and an invigorating ice fountain. I particularly enjoyed the experience shower with its tropical rain and monsoon settings - a perfect complement to the hot-cold cycle.

But here's the kicker – as much as I enjoyed pretending to be a boiled lobster in various steam rooms, it was the Sunday roast that really got my juices flowing. The award-winning 1907 restaurant serves up a roast that would make your nan jealous, starting at £23.95 per person for one course (Two courses: £31.95, three courses: £39.95)

And get this – it comes with a free glass of wine. Or a soft drink, if you're driving (maybe at the Mercedes Benz track nearby?).

As a veggie I went for the Marinated Cauliflower Steak. All served with roasted roots, Yorkshire puddings, stuffing & bottomless gravy. For dessert, Lotus Biscoff Cheesecake with Raspberry coulis, mixed berries, coconut ice cream, which was to die for.

What sets this Sunday lunch apart is the addition of live music. Resident acoustic musicians Phil Short, Jak Chantler & Paul Reynolds provide a wonderful backdrop of stripped-back acoustic rock and pop songs. It's the perfect atmosphere for catching up with friends or family over a delicious meal.

Brooklands is the place to go if you want to spend a day steaming yourself like a dim sum, followed by a roast dinner that'll have you loosening your spa robe.

Attractions nearby also include: Mercedes-Benz World, LEGOLAND® Windsor (about a 40 minute drive) Chessington World of Adventures (20 minute drive) Hampton Court (20 minutes) and the beautiful Gardens of Wisley, just a short distance from the hotel, guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to planning an action-packed day of activities.
