A hospital in Swansea has had to temporarily restrict visitation on a children's ward due to an outbreak of viral vomiting. Swansea Bay University Health Board announced on Wednesday, May 22, that visiting to the children's ward at Morriston Hospital had been temporarily restricted due to the outbreak.

The health board has said only one parent can visit at a time in order to keep the footfall on the ward to an "absolute minimum". The health board added the ward is now undergoing "urgent" additional cleaning with other infection control precautions taking place. For the latest Swansea news sign up to our newsletter here.

"We ask that only one parent at a time visits to keep the footfall on the ward to an absolute minimum. The exception is where a child is very poorly (high-dependency care). Visiting in these circumstances can be agreed on a case-by-case basis with staff.

"The ward is now undergoing urgent additional cleaning and other infection control precautions are being undertaken to restrict further spread. We hope to resume normal visiting as soon as possible and thank families for their co-operation in the meantime."
