The Walking Dead franchise has contained its storytelling within the US and, lately with Fear the Walking Dead, Mexico.

But could we see the narrative cross to other parts of the world?

This question was posed to showrunner Scott Gimple and creator Robert Kirkman at the show's Comic-Con panel – and it seems the idea's on their minds.

"I would say it is entirely possible that that could happen," Gimple said. "I'm going to continue to give a long, ambiguous answer on that, but I would say it's something.

"I'd say it's something."

Kirkman joked: "Look for The Walking Dead Sweden, coming in 2019!"

Gimple then added: "It's something we want to see."

The Walking Dead comics actually had a brief story last year called The Alien, which took place in Barcelona, Spain and followed Rick Grimes's brother Jeffrey.

It seems safe to assume that the zombie outbreak is a global incident.

Gimple also paid tribute to stuntman John Bernecker, who recently passed away. Bernecker sustained head injuries after falling 20 feet while rehearsing a fight.

"John passed away this week after he was injured doing something he loved: helping tell stories that excite, entertain, and give people escape," Gimple said.

"He helped make movies and shows for people like everybody in this room. John was someone who was beloved in the stunt community, who helped train people and helped them break into the business.

"He was living his dream, and he helped other people do the same."

The Walking Dead will air its 100th episode this autumn on AMC in the US and FOX in the UK.
