Daryl Dixon and The Ones Who Live, the spin-offs to The Walking Dead, have received an update amidst the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The action, the first of its kind since 1980, has led to delays on several productions — with most actors refusing to engage in publicity for upcoming projects whilst the strike is in place.

With the looming prospect of content shortage in the future, AMC Networks CEO Kristin Dolan revealed that the strike, which is running concurrently with similar action from the Writers Guild of America (WGA), wouldn't affect the company's programming until mid-2024.

This would mean that upcoming The Walking Dead spin-offs Daryl Dixon and The Ones Who Live will proceed as planned. The former premieres next month, and the latter is due to air next year.

"We greatly value the work of our creative partners and hope these disputes can be resolved as quickly and fairly as possible," Dolan said in a recent company earnings call with Wall Street analysts (via Deadline).

“In the short term, the reality for AMC Networks is that we have a pipeline of finished shows that will allow us to continue to serve our viewers across all of our platforms for the remainder of this year and well into 2024.”

Daryl Dixon sees Norman Reedus reprise his role as the titular character, tracing his journey across France after unexpectedly waking up without a clue as to how he got there. The series, which has already been renewed for a second season, also stars Clémence Poésy and Adam Nagaitis.

"This is probably the closest to a standalone show you will ever get," teased executive producer Greg Nicotero. "The goal isn't just to see Daryl in exotic and new locations but to explore a wholly different world.

“This is definitely not more of the same. Our show introduces new characters, new themes, and is an exciting extension of the genre that will delight people who love this kind of storytelling and crave more," he added.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere on AMC on September 10. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will premiere in 2024.
