The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, the spin-off to The Walking Dead, has finally landed a premiere date.

The limited-series, which sees Norman Reedus reprise his role as the titular character, was announced back in 2020 as the fifth spin-off to the main show, but it’s taken nearly three years for a premiere date to be announced.

AMC posted on their social media channels that Daryl would be "storming France" on September 10, with the post including several new stills and an official poster.

The series sees Daryl "wash ashore in France and struggle to piece together how he got there and why. [Journeying] across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan."

Starring alongside Reedus in the series are Clémence Poésy, Adam Nagaitis, Anne Charrier and Eriq Ebouaney, with the quartet all playing new characters. Melissa McBride will also reprise her role as Carol Peletier, though in a smaller part than originally envisioned after McBride had conflicts in her schedule.

Speaking ahead of the show’s launch, executive producer Greg Nicotero revealed that the spin-off would change the formula and not be "more of the same"

"This is probably the closest to a standalone show you will ever get," he said.

"The goal isn't just to see Daryl in exotic and new locations, but to explore a wholly different world. This is definitely not more of the same. Our show introduces new characters, new themes, and is an exciting extension of the genre that will delight people who love this kind of storytelling and crave more.

"The Last of Us and Station Eleven proved that there are still moving survival stories to be told. And our goal is to satisfy those people who want to go on the adventure. Hop on, it's gonna be a ride," he added.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere on AMC on September 10.
