The Walking Dead favourite Melissa McBride might be back as Carol Peletier after all.

Back in 2020, a spin-off series centred on Carol and Daryl Dixon that would have seen them travelling to Paris together was announced, but McBride later departed from the show before filming began last year.

While officially, Norman Reedus is flying solo as Daryl, Negan star Jeffrey Dean Morgan appears to know something we don't.

"Well well," he tweeted alongside a picture of Carol and Daryl yesterday (June 22).

"We're sorry Norman... fer talking oodles of shit to you when we thought Melissa wasn't doing show! Golly... this must of been in the works for ages! (Twas from start). Goddamn it's great seeing these two together! Can't wait! Xojd [sic]"

In his Twitter post, Morgan referenced some of the blame that fans placed on Reedus following McBride's exit. At the time last year, he sprang to the defence of Reedus.

"Some of you have gone WAY too far," he wrote in April 2022. "Attacking Norm for crap he has NOTHING to do with? Melissa made a call that was hers alone. She wants/needs a break. Respect that. Factors involved that are nobody's business. Norm, who's given more than anyone to you all. Just SHITTY."

Reedus has recently teased the upcoming spin-off, saying: "It's so epic in scale, and the tone is so good and different, and moody.

"There's history in the story. There's history in the walls around us. There's history in the sound of it all. It's a very different feel. It has the stuff that you want from the show, but it's just picked up and put in a whole other dimension."
