A warning has been issued following a spate of holiday home break-ins across the north Norfolk coast.

The incidents happened between January 2 and January 10 when several holiday lets and second homes in Holme-next-the-Sea, Blakeney, Wighton and Wells were broken into.

Thieves forced entry into the seaside properties through windows and doors before searching the homes - though nothing was stolen.

Another property in Weybourne was also targeted amid the spate and £20 in cash was stolen after thieves forced their way in through a window.

Now police have issued a home security warning for those living in the affected areas.

To better protect doors, police say a letterbox guard should be fitted to prevent thieves from fishing for keys and other items using a hook.

The installation of special film or laminated panels on the window as well as spy holes and security chains were also recommended to easily identify anybody at the door.

To better protect windows, police recommend models that open out instead of up as well as window opening restrictors which ensure they can’t be picked from the outside.
