Yahoo News Warning after man dies and seven hospitalised from 'contaminated batch' of drug
A man has died and seven people have been hospitalised as police warn of a "potentially contaminated" batch of drugs in the community.
Cleveland Police say they are investigating the death of the man, who is believed to have taken Zopiclone - a drug used to alleviate insomnia and other sleeping problems.
Seven others believed to be suffering the effects of the drug were taken to North Tees General Hospital last night (Friday, June 27).
Police have now issued a warning to the community regarding the suspected bad batch as enquiries continue.
A statement reads: "On Friday 28 June police received reports of seven adults having been taken to North Tees General Hospital.
"They are all believed to be suffering the effects of a drug called Zopiclone.
"Officers are warning drug users of a potentially contaminated batch which could cause significant illness or lead to an overdose.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who has information, or concerns about drugs in the community, is urged to call Cleveland Police on 101.
