Some parts of the UK now have an amber warning in place for rain as the heavy downpours continue into Wednesday morning.

The weather in Oxford is set to remain wet throughout Wednesday with precipitation highs of 90 per cent.

Temperatures will not rise above 14° and the downpours will continue all day in the city as the storms continue to rage on.

The Met Office has warned that heavy rain and thunderstorms may lead to some disruption.

"Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures," a Met Office statement said.

"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

"There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds."
