Was Ex-Superman Actor Dean Cain Behind Rebecca Adlington’s Break-Up?

Is it his bird? Was he to blame?

These are the questions following reports former Superman actor Dean Cain’s close friendship with Rebecca Adlington may have sparked her marriage split.

The ex-Olympian swimmer’s sudden break-up from fellow swimmer Harry Needs after 18 months of marriage has left her friends stunned.

But lantern-jawed Cain, above, famous for his telly role as the alien in the red cape, has become a shoulder to cry on after they teamed up for Channel 4’s The Jump in Austria this year.

Insiders were quoted by The Sun newspaper saying the 49-year-old comforted Adlington, 27, after she was ruled out of the dangerous series by injury.

They added they regularly partied together.

Adlington recently posted this still on Instagram from a video showing her partying with Cain.

Dad-of-one Cain, who spent years starring alongside Desperate Housewives’ Teri Hatcher in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and whose exes include actress Brooke Shields and Playmate Samantha Torres, travelled to London last week to meet up with the ex-swimmer.

The pair were seen leaving the Charlotte Street Hotel in the West End before having a coffee and shopping in Oxford Street.

Ladies’ man Cain shared this photo of him hugging actress Kimberly Elise on his Instagram,

A source told The Sun: “Harry and Becky’s friends didn’t see the divorce coming.”

Adlington, below in a promo shot, said at the £500,000 home she shared with Harry in Romiley, Greater Manchester: “I don’t want to comment.”
