Washington and Gateshead South general election results 2024 in full

Voters in the Washington and Gateshead South constituency have been going to the polls in the general election 2024 to choose their new MP. The seat goes across the Sunderland-Gateshead border, and includes the Birtley and Lamesley areas of Gateshead as well as Washington.

Former Washington and Sunderland West MP Sharon Hodgson has won the seat for Labour in the 2024 general election. Ms Hodgson has been an MP for the area since 2010 and has held a number of junior Shadow Ministerial positions.

Polls closed in the general election 2024 at 10pm on Thursday, July 4, with counts taking place overnight. Results from across the UK were declared in the early hours of Friday morning, with Washington and Gateshead South declaring its results at 12.30 am.
