It wasn’t just your iPhone: Global outage hit Apple users’ iMessage last night
It’s not you, it’s Apple.
If you didn’t get a text back yesterday, it’s because iMessage was down for about an hour.
Just after 6 p.m. Thursday evening, over 14,000 iMessage outages were reported, according to outage tracker Downdetector.
Some users received a “Not Delivered” message when trying to use the app, and others were forced to send a non-iMessage text with the dreaded green bubble instead.
Apple’s official System Status tracker marked the iMessage issue as “resolved” at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, noting that some users were unable to use the service between 5:49 p.m. and 6:35 p.m.
The tracker also stated that users were having issues with Apple Messages for Business and FaceTime.
Outages were also reported in Canada and the U.K.

It’s unclear what caused the outages, but some users reported having success when resending messages.
The Post has reached out to Apple for comment.
Some users flocked to X, formerly Twitter, too express their frustrations over the outage.
“apple ruining relationships by turning off iMessage,” one person quipped.
“imessage is down. embrace the green bubble,” another wrote.
“iMessage down no wonder they haven’t texted back in 2 weeks,” someone else joked.
